Just for a Week, 570 Drivers Were Fined for Using their Phones

570 drivers were sanctioned for misuse of mobile phones in the latest operation to prevent the illegal use of mobile devices while driving, the press center of the Ministry of Interior announced.

The operation was organized by the European Network of Traffic Police Forces - TISPOL and took place in the week of 16-22 September.

100 tonnes of sunflower seed was destroyed in a fire that broke in a silo in the village of Blaskovo near Varna, said the press office of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. The incident was reported yesterday around 04.39 pm. Two firefighting crews arrived at the scene.

First Case of African Swine Fever in Blagoevgrad Region

The first case of African Swine Fever in the Blagoevgrad region was registered on August 15. The infected animal was found in the Struma River near Kresna. An extraordinary epizootic committee discussed the measures to be taken. Some 70,000 culled pigs have already been buried in the Rousse region, which is most affected by the disease, reports BNT. 

Rescuers Looking for a 14-year-old Girl by the Sea near Varna

 A young girl disappeared in the sea near the central beach of Varna.

At about 5.30pm an incident occurred in the water. According to initial information, two minor children entered the water despite the red flag, one of which failed to exit. Immediately followed to track her down, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior-Varna informed.

Pig Farms Affected by African Swine Fever in Rousse Await BGN 1,5 Million Compensation

The three industrial pig farms in Bulgaria's Rousse district where outbreaks of African Swine Fever were registered are awaiting 1.5 million BGN in compensation for the burial of culled animals and disinfection of the sites, reports BNT.

The amount was specified in a public procurement tender called by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. The contractors were selected by negotiations.

30 000 Laying Hens Burned Alive in a Fire in Peshtera

All 30 000 laying hens burned alive at yesterday's devastating fire in Peshtera. At 16:30 afternoon yesterday, one of the largest farms in Pazardzhik district caught on fire, and now it is completely destroyed.

The fire has raged almost until midnight. The fire extinguished three fire trucks with 15 firefighters, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced.
