Wiretaps implicate police officers in crime rings
At least seven police officers, including a high-ranking retired one, from precincts around the country have been implicated in crime rings run by members of the Roma community.
Two of the rings, behind robberies that netted at least 1 million euros, were smashed in a wide-scale operation last week.

Albania President Pressed Over Roma Property Rights
A group of Roma and human rights organizations gathered on Monday in front of the president’s office and presented a petition with 6,000 signatories, calling on the head of state to return the legislative amendments to parliament.

Bulgarian Activist to Run in Greek EU Elections
Bulgarian Konstantina Kuneva will run for a Member of the European Parliament from the left-wing Greek party Coalition of the Radical Left, also known as SYRIZA.
Kuneva, who tragically became known after being splashed with acid in December 2008 in Athens, will run sixth in the party's elections list, Bulgarian Nova Tv reports.
