Moscow denies claims of sending weapons to Croatia during Yugoslav wars

Russian Foreign Ministry denied claims made by Croatian media on deliveries of arms to Croatia from Russia in the early nineties.

Russia has always strictly respected its international obligations, including ones regarding embargo on the delivery of weapons to the conflicting parties during the Yugoslav crisis of 1991-1995, Russian Embassy in Belgrade said in a statement.

Reported Expulsions Overshadow Russian Security Chief's Serbia Visit

Serbia has expelled several Russians for their alleged involvement in illegal activities in Montenegro, where authorities claim they prevented a coup, the Serbian daily Danas reported on Thursday.

The newspaper cited unnamed sources close to the Serbian government but did not reveal the names of those expelled and BIRN could not verify this information independently.

Serbian Town Pays Tribute to Putin in Wax

A wax effigy of Vladimir Putin will go on show in the Wax Museum in Jagodina in early March, standing next to sports star Novak Djokovic, the scientist Nikola Tesla and late Yugoslav strongman, Josip Broz Tito.

Dragan Markovic, president of the local assembly of Jagodina, told BIRN that Putin's wax figure was ready and he hoped Russian diplomats would come and see it unveiled.

Russia Day was marked at the Russian embassy in Belgrade on Tuesday, in the presence of top Serbian officials, including President Tomislav Nikolic.

Ambassador Aleksandr Chepurin, who hosted a reception, said in his address that over the centuries of their history, Russia and Serbia have been linked together by common roots, victories and successes.

BELGRADE -- 16 Second World War veterans from Belgrade, former members of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia (NOV), have received Russian medals.

The medals, given by the Russian president, were presented to the veterans in a ceremony in the Russian embassy in Belgrade late on Thursday.

Dacic, Chepurin discuss cooperation in OSCE work

BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic conferred on Friday with Russian Ambassador in Belgrade Alexander Chepurin over the beginning of Serbia's OSCE presidency.

During the talks, officials underscored the willingness of the two countries to cooperate on all relevant issues of importance for the OSCE work.
