A U.S. citizen has been apprehended in Türkiye on allegations of murdering a Russian woman in Moscow, according to a report by Russian state media.

The U.S. State Department is currently seeking more details, following TASS's report that identified the suspect as American, based on law enforcement sources.

Kyiv officials have taken credit for the killing of former Ukrainian politician Illia Kyva, a 46-year-old pro-Russian politician whose body was found in a suburb near Moscow.

Air defenses repelled an attack by drones near the town of Dzhankoy in Crimea on Monday evening, the Russian Investigative Committee, the body in charge of the most important investigations, said. "The target of all the downed drones was civilian infrastructure," the committee added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that long-range missiles struck Ukrainian energy, military and communications infrastructure in an attack this morning.

 The student who opened fire at Perm State University on Monday will go through a comprehensive psychiatric examination, a medical source told TASS.

 "The student will need to go through a comprehensive psychiatric examination, which will make it clear whether he was sane and responsible for his actions at the time of the attack," the source pointed out.

Turkey on Sept. 20 condemned the deadly shooting at a university in Russia.

"We condemn the attack that took place [on Sept. 20] within the premises of the Perm State University which resulted in loss of lives of eight people and left many wounded," a Foreign Ministry statement said.

A Russian passenger jet crashed several minutes after takeoff from Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on Sunday, killing all 71 people on board, Russia's Air Transport Agency confirmed.

The Russian Investigative Committee has identified 22-year-old Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, a Kyrgyz-born Russian citizen, as the suspect believed to have carried out the terrorist bombing in the Saint Petersburg Metro.
