San Francisco’s music scene in 1970s takes stage in docuseries

Janis Joplin's first rehearsal with the rock band Big Brother & The Holding Company was apparently a loud affair. So loud it was alarming.

Bassist Peter Albin recalls the band raising the roof off one day in the 1960s when their playing was interrupted by a knock at the door. Two San Francisco police officers were investigating reports of a woman screaming.

2 killed in San Francisco shooting

San Francisco police are responding to a shooting at a United Parcel Service facility in downtown’s Mission District and have asked people nearby to shelter in place.
At least two drivers were involved in the shooting at the shipping and delivery facility, said Steven Gaut, a UPS spokesman. One of the drivers is the shooter, and the other is a victim, he said.
