Elvedin Konakovic told BIRN that he won't heed calls for him to quit as premier of the Sarajevo Canton, and that he will continue to speak out about what he alleges are corrupt activities linked to his former party, the Party of Democratic Action, SDA.

The first session of Srebrenica's new municipal assembly since the October local elections brought a Serb to power as mayor was broken off on Thursday, when members of the mainly Bosniak [Muslim] Party for Democratic Action, SDA, walked out.

As a vote recount for the disputed mayoralty of Srebrenica began on Monday in Sarajevo, the Bosniak-led Party of Democratic Action, SDA called for a complete annulment of the local polls in the wartime flashpoint town.

The Serbian Democratic Party, which is part of the governing national coalition in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said it will present a proposal for a new law on the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The proposal will be submitted during the next session of parliament's House of the Representatives, Aleksandra Pandurevic, an SDS MP, told BIRN on Tuesday.

Bosnia's two main Bosniak and Croat parties, the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, and the Croat Democratic Union, HDZBiH, are reportedly edging towards ending the deadlock that has paralyzed political life in the ethnically divided southwestern city.

Leaders of the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, the main Bosniak party in Bosnia, on December 18 named Denis Zvizdic as the next president of the Council of Ministers, in effect, Bosnia's next Prime Minister.

Nikola Spiric, of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, the party that won most votes in Republika Srpska, said that future parliamentary coalitions at both state and entity level should be as broad-based as possible.

Sulejman Tihic, president of Bosnia's largest Bosniak party, the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, died on September 25 in Sarajevo after a years-long fight with cancer.
