Second Heavy Penal Court

Five prison personnel have been suspended from their jobs after a jailed suspect in a case into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) appeared in court wearing a t-shirt that had "hero" written on it.

A prosecutor has sought 46 aggravated life sentences each for suspects in a case launched into the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) attack on Istanbul's Atatürk Airport that left 45 people dead on June 28, 2016. 

The first indictment regarding a key figure in Turkey's failed July 2016 coup attempt, Adil Öksüz, was prepared in the Marmara province of Sakarya on Jan. 19, with the prosecutor seeking one aggravated life sentence and a jail sentence of between 190 years and 319 years.

A prosecutor in the southeastern Turkish province of Şırnak has sought an aggravated life sentence for Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Ferhat Encü over "attempting to kill a public official due to the public duty he is carrying out."

The co-chair of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has been called to testify on charges of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization." 

HDP co-leader Selahattin Demirtaş was called to testify as a part of the probe launched by Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. 

Subpoenas were issued for eight lawmakers from the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) over the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) case in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Sept. 5. HDP group deputy chairman Çağlar Demirel was among the ones that a subpoena was issued for by the Diyarbakır Second Heavy Penal Court, Anadolu Agency reported.
