The semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq, which voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence last year in a referendum rejected by Baghdad, will hold an election on Sept. 30.

A Turkish plane has landed in Arbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, for the first time since Ankara lifted its six-month ban on flights to the city. 

Turkey has opened its air space for flights to Arbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said. 

Iraq has lifted the ban on international flights to the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) airports, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said in a statement on March 13.
