Vučić: I will never agree to the creation of reception and identification centres for migrants in Serbia

Serbian President Alexander Vučić said he would never agree to set up reception and identification centers for illegal migrants for the European Union on Serbian territory and that he had not been asked to do so by the prime ministers of EU member states Slovakia and Hungary.

Mitsotakis ‘shocked’ at ‘heinous attack’ on Slovak PM

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has expressed his shock at the "heinous attack" on his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, who has been injured in a shooting and taken to hospital.

"Shocked by the heinous attack against the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico. Such acts of violence have no place in our societies. I wish him a speedy recovery," Mitsotakis tweeted.

This was announced today by the Slovak Ministry of Defense.
"Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalik met in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and on that occasion informed him about the end of military aid to Ukraine from the warehouse of the Slovak Armed Forces," announced the Slovak Ministry of Defense, reports TASS.

Poland and the Czech Republic will Guard the Skies over Slovakia

The defense ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia signed an agreement that provides for the protection of Slovak airspace by Polish and Czech fighter jets.

Slovakia has ordered 14 US F-16 fighter jets to replace its aging Soviet MiG-29 jets, but it is unlikely that they will be delivered before 2024, DPA reports.

Sputnik Vaccine Orbits Slovak Politics

Matovič told the media that on January 18 the Slovak government had ordered extra vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna that would enable the state to inoculate 85 per cent of the adult population, or 3.7 million people. The AstraZeneca vaccine was pending EMA approval at that time, but has since become part of the vaccination program in Slovakia when it was recommended for use on January 29.
