Global Petition Voices Concern About Academic Freedom in Slovenia
Some 150 scholars, mostly specialists in Central and Southeast Europe, from different parts of the world, have signed a petition expressing concern about the autonomy of scholars and academic freedom in Slovenia and about the Slovene government's alleged "attempt to take control of important cultural and academic institutions".

According to a survey conducted by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Ljubljana regarding the current economic conditions in Slovenia, almost two thirds of the questioned representatives of Austrian subsidiaries in Slovenia described the appeal to invest directly into the country as just "average".
Croatia May Quit Arbitration Case over Piran Gulf
The arbitation process between Slovenia and Croatia in the Hague over the waters of the Piran Gulf in Istria was in doubt on Friday, after the Slovene judge on the panel and the Slovenian representative resigned - and after Croatia warned it may back out of the process entirely.
