Defendant in 2013 Illegal Ballot Papers Case May Become Advisor of PM Borisov

Rosen Zhelyazkov, the sole defendant in the case for the illegal ballot papers discovered on the eve of the early elections on May 12, 2013, is likely to return to a post at Bulgaria's Council of Ministers.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Rumyana Bachvarova, as cited by the BGNES news agency, Zhelyazkov may work with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Automobile Administration Agency Officials from Pleven Charged with Abuse of Office

Nikolay Nikolov, and Georgi Matsin, director and deputy director of a regional unit of Bulgaria's Automobile Administration Executive Agency (AAEA), have been charged with abuse of office.

The prosecuting authority also pressed charges against an owner of a transport company, Ilko Iliev.

Over 100 People Residing in Bulgaria Illegally Arrested in Special Operation

A special police operation against persons residing in Bulgaria without authorisation is underway on the territory of the country.

The operation was ordered by Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov and caretaker Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov, according to reports of the Interior Ministry.

Two methamphetamine labs and a greenhouse for cannabis have been uncovered in an operation of Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security (DANS) in Sofia.

During the special police operation, which was conducted on September 25-26 and was supervised and managed by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, five Bulgarian nationals were arrested.

3 Bulgarians Arrested in Anti-Drug Operation in Sofia District

Three Bulgarian nationals have been arrested in a special operation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) aimed at intercepting a drug deal.

The special operation was conducted on September 2, 2014 on the territory of Sofia district by DANS officers under the management of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
