Flag Controversy Overshadows Siljanovska's Cultural Visit to Sofia

North Macedonia plans to request an explanation from the office of Bulgaria's President, Rumen Radev, following a photo from his meeting with Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova on Friday. The photo, taken at the presidency in Sofia, shows the Bulgarian and EU flags, but notably absent is the national flag of North Macedonia.

More Than 3,000 People Have Visited Opera of the Peaks This Year

The performances from the Opera of the Peaks festival this year were watched by over 3,000 spectators, despite the necessary restrictions on seats due to security measures. This was announced by the organizers of the Sofia Opera.

The sixth edition of the festival took place at Belogradchik Rocks from 6 to 15 August.

Internationally Renowned Tenor José Carreras Arrives in Sofia for his Concert

The world famous Spanish tenor José Carreras arrived in Sofia on May 8 for his concert, which will take place on May 11 in Area Aremeec Hall. It will be a farewell of the maestro with the Bulgarian audience, reports BNT. 

Carreras and his team will stay in Sofia for four days, with three of them dedicated to rehearsals with the Sofia Opera and Ballet Orchestra.

Another vandal act with a Bulgarian origin on one of the Seven Wonders of the World has outraged users of social networks.

The inscription "Loko 2019" appeared on the The Great Pyramid of Giza. This shocked Bulgarian tourists who visited the tourist landmark in Egypt on January 5th. and they make photographs of the inscription carved in the ancient stone.

Mikhail Baryshnikov Comes To Sofia Opera and Ballet! (Video)

Mikhail Baryshnikov is a Russian-American ballet dancer who choreographed several iconic pieces which have made him one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th century.

In December 2000, Baryshnikov was recognized, along with other cultural luminaries, for a lifetime of extraordinary achievement at the Kennedy Center Honor Awards.

International Forum "Opera Europe" - 22 - 24 March 2018

The Sofia Opera hosts an International Opera Europe forum from March 22nd to March 24th. The Forum will gather in the opera 87 directors and various representatives of major opera theaters from Europe, America and Canada.

Bulgaria Marks Theatres Night on Saturday

Fifteen Bulgarian towns and cities are celebrating the Theatres Night on Saturday, with visitors being allowed behind the curtains a number of theaters performing late into the evening.

Art spaces, galleries and municipal cultural centres will also offer performances throght the capital Sofia.

The Sofia Opera will also admit visitors behind the scenes.
