Bulgarian university students celebrate their holiday today. In 1897 the Minister of Education Prof.

The lawyer Nikola Minchev is the new chairman of the National Assembly. He was the leader of the "We Continue the Change" list in Pernik.

He was elected with 158 votes "for", "against" 1 ("Vazrazhdane") and "abstained" - 72 (GERB and "Vazrazhdane").

The Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov, who participated in the presidential elections, received support from the members of the General Assembly of the university to continue his term.

Support was received today during an online meeting.

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor has congratulated Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on his re-election. He wished him a lot of success in performing important tasks, Pahor’s office said in a press release on Monday.

The presidents also discussed the Covid-19 pandemic and stressed the importance of efforts by both Slovenia and Bulgaria to raise vaccination rates.

His centre-right rival, Anastas Gerdjikov, came far behind with 31.9 per cent in as yet incomplete results. However, in a sign of widespread political apathy, the turnout was at an all-time low of only 34.1 per cent.

Judge Pavlina Panova is the new President of the Constitutional Court.

She was elected at a court hearing today. All 11 judges were present.

The newly formed "We Continue the Change" party, led by former interim ministers Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev, is expected to make a splash and come in third place, possibly collaborating with Democratic Bulgaria in a potential coalition. 

"The candidacy of the rector of Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov for president surprised me and even worried me. I did not expect that a person from our community would be a candidate of GERB,". This was said by the caretaker Education Minister Prof. Nikolay Denkov in a tv interview.

I am not a party candidate. I am ready to work with all parties. It is important for me to be supported by people from the whole spectrum. I hope to convince everyone that I am the right president to convince all these people. This was stated by the rector of Sofia University Prof.
