Bulgaria on Friday reminded Russia that it was not the Soviet Red Army but the Bulgarian people who saved thousands of Bulgarian Jews from deportation to Nazi death camps in 1943.
Serbia Capital Set for Russian-Flavoured Liberation Day
Serbia is marking the anniversary of the liberation of its capital, Belgrade, in 1944 from Nazi German occupation on Friday with a military exercise displaying Russian MIG fighter jets, the Serbian Defence Ministry has announced.
Belgrade freed from Nazi occupation 70 years ago
BELGRADE - Belgrade was liberated from Nazi occupation on October 20 70 years ago, after four years of occupation that resulted in the death of around 60,000 people.
The operation to free the city was conducted jointly by the Yugoslav Partisans and the Soviet Red Army. They fought for each street and building from October 11 to 20.

Putin Visit to Serbia to Focus on Gas
President Vladimir Putin of Russia has confirmed that he will visit Serbia on October 19 for the 70th anniversary celebration of the Soviet Red Army's liberation of Belgrade at the end of the Second World War.

69 years since breakthrough of Syrmian Front
BELGRADE - Serbia marked on Saturday 69 years since the breakthrough of the Axis lines on the Syrmian Front after a 175-day campaign to liberate Yugoslavia from Nazi occupation in World War II.
The Syrmian Front campaign saw some of the most difficult and longest and most tragic WWII fighting. Over 250,000 soldiers fought in the trench battles from October 21, 1944 to April 12, 1945.
