Kosovo Police on Saturday arrested two police officers from the Serb-run northern part of the town of Mitrovica on suspicion that they manipulated evidence at the scene of Oliver Ivanovic's murder in January.

Serbia has insisted that the arrest warrant that it issued for Ramush Haradinaj in 2004 will remain in force now he is Kosovo's new prime minister, which could cause difficulties while travelling internationally in his new role, experts believe.

The decision by Kosovo Serb party Srpska Lista(Serbian List) to back the election of Kadri Veseli, from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK, as the new parliamentary speaker on Thursday has drawn fiercely divided reactions in Serbia, where rightists accused it - and Belgrade - of surrendering to a war criminal.

The Trepca mining complex is split physically along ethnic lines, but Serb workers in the northern part of the former Yugoslav complex and the Kosovo Albanians in the southern part both have concerns about whether it can keep operating.

The fall of Yugoslavia and post-war ethnic divisions helped bring Trepca to the verge of bankruptcy.
