Sunflower Oil Prices in Bulgaria Expected to Rise Slightly

An increase in sunflower oil prices in Bulgaria is anticipated, but it is not expected to be significant. According to Vladimir Ivanov, chairman of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets, any price rise will likely be between 5% and 10%. This expectation comes in light of a weak domestic harvest, which typically influences prices.

Wholesale Prices of Basic Foodstuffs Continue to Rise Across Bulgaria

The trend of rising prices for some basic foodstuffs, fruits, and vegetables continued this week, according to the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT). The market price index (MPI), which tracks wholesale food prices, increased by 0.68% to 2.065 points, compared to 2.051 points last week. The base level of the MPI is set at 1,000 points, established in 2005.

Fruit and Vegetable Prices Drop Across Bulgaria in Late May

At the end of May, the prices of most fruits and vegetables in Bulgaria saw a decline, according to the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (SCCEM) in its weekly bulletin. The market price index (MPI), reflecting the movement of wholesale food prices, dropped by 1.21 percent to 2,114 points, down from 2,140 points the previous week.

The Prices of Basic Food Products Are the Same as Last Year

"We see a stable, balanced market in the main products and the price levels are currently identical to those of last year," Vladimir Ivanov, chairman of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets, said in the studio of the morning block. The only altered product price is for pork meat.

How Much Does the Food Cost this Summer?

The index of market prices, which reflects the prices of wholesale food, didnt change this week and remained at the level of 1,431 points, reports the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets. After the index dropped to 1,331 points in early July, it rose by 7.5 percent in four weeks. The base level of the index - 1,000 has been since 2005.
