Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD)

A German national suspected of links to the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) was arrested in southeastern Turkey on March 27, security sources said.

Turkey has asked Sweden to arrest Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) leader Salih Muslim, calling for his extradition from Stockholm, private broadcaster CNN Türk quoted Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu as saying, its third such request to a foreign country in just over a week. 

Turkey has officially demanded the temporary arrest and extradition of Salih Muslim, the former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-chair, from Germany, Anadolu Agency reported on March 5.

Former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-leader Salih Müslim was released by a Czech court on Feb. 27, despite a request from Turkey for his extradition. 

Ankara will not swap two Czech suspects held in custody for former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) leader Salih Muslim, who was detained in Prague over the weekend, Turkish Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül said on Feb. 27.

Turkey’s ambassador to the Czech Republic has warned Czech authorities that a ruling to release former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-leader Salih Muslim would be considered a move that would tantamount to supporting terrorism.

Turkey has submitted files to the Czech authorities regarding the extradition of Salih Muslim, the former co-leader of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), who was arrested in the Czech Republic upon Turkey’s request on Feb. 25.

Former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-chair Salih Muslim, who was added to the “most wanted terrorists” list by the Turkish Interior Ministry on Feb. 12, is expected to hold a press conference in the Belgian capital of Brussels on Feb. 14. 

A total of 474 suspects were detained across Turkey last week for “promoting” the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) on social media, the Interior Ministry stated on Feb. 12. 

Turkey’s Interior Ministry has added former Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-leader Salih Muslim and the leader of an outlawed pro-Bashar al-Assad organization, Mihraç Ural, to its “wanted terrorists” list along with several new names.
