Israeli President: US Missile Strike on Syria 'Example to Free World'
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin called the US missile strike on an airfield in Syria's Homs province an "example to the entire free world."
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel supported the US missile attack on the airfield.
Kurdish PYD Group Declares Federal Region in Syria
The Democratic Union Party (PYD) of Syria has proclaimed the creation of a "federal democratic system" in the north of Syria, Al Jazeera has said.
The Thursday announcement follows meetings earlier this week involving members of the Kurdish, Arab, Assyrian and other communities in the region.

Syria opposition, rebel dismiss Iran idea for transition
Any peace plan for Syria allowing President Bashar al-Assad to stand in early elections after a transition period would be "mad" because he is the root of the problem and holding a nationwide poll is impossible, a Syrian opposition figure said.
The commander of a rebel group fighting on the ground echoed the comment.

U.S. Ambassador to represent Washington at Gallipoli commemoration
The U.S. ambassador in Ankara, John Bass, will represent his country in the commemoration ceremonies for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli, U.S. Embassy spokesperson Joe Wierichs told Hürriyet Daily News.
Dignitaries to flock to Gallipoli anniversary
Turkey will host leaders from all corners of the world when it holds commemorations for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli April 24-25.
The heads of state for 20 nations will be in attendance, while two parliament speakers, three vice presidents, five prime ministers and around 20 ministers will also attend the ceremonies.
