President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced his intentions to advance regional development in Türkiye's south following the construction of the country's inaugural nuclear power plant in Mersin.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has officially declared that Murat Kurum, the former environment, urbanization and climate change minister, will be his Justice and Development Party's (AKP) candidate for the mayoral seat in Istanbul.

Turkey will participate at the International Donors' Conference for Albania, scheduled to be held in Brussels on Feb. 17. 

Faruk Kaymakçı, Turkey's deputy foreign minister and director for EU affairs, will attend the conference, organized by the European Commission, which "aims to heal the earthquake wounds of brotherly Albania, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. 

More than half of the construction of a 511-kilometer concrete wall being built on Turkey's border with Syria has been completed, the head of the state-owned Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) has said. 

Ergün Turan, president of TOKİ, said 290 kilometers of the wall was sealed along Turkey's border provinces of Şanlurfa, Gaziantep, Kilis, Hatay, Mardin and Şırnak.
