Association seeks to expand tourism to all 81 provinces
The Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) has launched its campaign with the aim of expanding tourism activities year-round to the country's 81 provinces.
"With the 'Century of Tourism' project, we set a goal of increasing our country's share of tourism even higher," said Firuz Bağlıkaya, the president of the association.
Türkiye welcomed over 10 mln foreign tourists in 4 months
Foreign tourist arrivals increased by 11.75 percent in January-April from a year ago to 10.65 million, according to data from the Tourism and Culture Ministry.
In April alone, Türkiye welcomed 3.6 million foreign holidaymakers, marking an 8.7 percent increase compared with the same month of 2023.
Foreign tourist arrivals in Türkiye soar 23 percent
Some 2.3 million foreign tourists visited Türkiye in February, pointing to a strong 22.6 percent increase from the same month of last year, data from the Tourism and Culture Ministry have shown.
In the first month of 2024, Türkiye welcomed more than 2 million foreign holidaymakers, which marked a 2.1 percent annual increase.

More than 2 million foreign tourists visited Türkiye in the first month of 2024, marking a 2.1 percent increase from a year ago, the numbers from the Tourism and Culture Ministry have shown.
Over 14 million foreign tourists visited Türkiye in 5 months
Foreign tourist arrivals in Türkiye increased nearly 24 percent in January-May from a year ago to more than 14 million, the Tourism and Culture Ministry has said.
Including Turkish citizens residing abroad, the number of tourists visiting Türkiye stood at 15.6 million.
Russians constituted the largest group of foreign tourists, showed the data the ministry released on June 23.
Inquiry launched over video clip shot at iconic monastery
A large-scale investigation has been initiated after the emergence of footage showing a band dancing to electronic music at a former Orthodox monastery in Turkey's northeast.
The inquiry includes officials of the Trabzon Governor's Office and the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, who reportedly allowed the video clip shooting at the Sümela Monastery.
Touristic Eastern Express set to be back on tracks
The Touristic Eastern Express that runs from Ankara to the eastern province of Kars will resume operations, which were halted in March 2020, in December.
The train will depart from Ankara on Dec. 15, said Transport Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu in a written statement.
