Bulgarian Defense Minister: There is Real Danger that within 3-4 years We will Not be Able to Carry Out our Combat Duty Alone

"There is a real danger that in the next 3-4 years we will not be able to carry out our combat duty alone". This was said by Dimitar Stoyanov, Caretaker Minister of Defense when presenting the team and priorities in the sector. He pointed to the war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on repairs of Russian equipment as the reason, as well as the delay in the F-16 contract.

Turkish Treasury seizes indebted insurance company

The Turkish Treasury has seized Euro Investment's insurance unit, Ege Insurance, on the grounds the company could not meet its liabilities amid financial difficulties on Aug. 7. 

The losses of the company were around 104 million Turkish Liras, according to sources. Ege Insurance has over one million policies with around 1 percent of the market. 

African Union calls for 7,500-strong force to fight Boko Haram

The African Union called Jan. 30 for a regional five-nation force of 7,500 troops to defeat the "horrendous" rise of Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamist militants.
 
The call for collective action came as leaders of the 54-member bloc opened their two-day annual summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where they were addressing a string of crises across the continent.
