Turkey's army chief Yaşar Güler on Feb. 28 held a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Gen. Mark Milley, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said.

The two discussed recent developments, the TSK said in a tweet, without giving further details.

Turkey's army has launched a counter-terrorism ground operation in northern Iraq's Hakurk region as part of "Operation Claw," a written statement by the Defense Ministry said on May 28. 

Turkey's army chief on May 25 visited the southern border province of Hatay to inspect troops taking part in the ongoing Operation Olive Branch in northwestern Syria. 

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar was briefed by the commanders on duty in the region and issued orders.

Turkey announced the start of a military operation against the Kurdish-controlled Syrian city of Afrin.

More than 70 bombs were fired at Aphrod in Aleppo province, with Turkey's army in the neighboring Turkish province of Hatay.

It was to be expected that the decision by the Supreme Court last week to reject Turkey's request for the extradition of eight Turkish servicemen seeking asylum in Greece would prompt anger in Ankara. Also, it was certain that any Turkish provocation would take place in the Aegean Sea.

Turkish-backed Syrian rebels and coalition air strikes have killed 12 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants in northern Syria, the Turkish military said Nov. 8. 

Police detained a total of 26 suspects on Oct. 5 in an operation targeting the members of the Gülen movement, which has been blamed for the July 15 coup, in Turkey's army and intelligence services.

The Turkish military has continued to shell the positions of the Syria's Democratic Union Party (PYD) in northern Syria for a fifth straight day, stating it was "retaliating" to fire coming from the region.

European Union officials have called on Turkey to halt its military action in Syria after Turkish forces shelled positions held by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) over the weekend.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has again vowed that Turkey will not allow for Syria's Azaz district, in the countryside north of Aleppo, to fall to the forces of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD). 

"We will not let Azaz fall," said Davuto?lu on Feb. 15 en route to Kyiv for a one-day official visit, according to Reuters.
