Turkey's Education Ministry

A vocational high school that will train young journalists who will be well-equipped with skills to work for the media sector will be established in cooperation between Turkey's Education Ministry and Demirören Media.

A Syrian student who fled the war in his country and took refuge in southeastern Turkey six years ago has ranked first in his high school entrance exam (LGS), his school said on July 1.

"Syrian refugee student Dlyar Safo answered all questions correctly on the LGS 2021," the Kurtalan Selahaddin Eyyübi İmam Hatip Secondary School said on Twitter.

Turkey's Education Ministry is investigating how animated footage of the execution of a former prime minister was shown to children as part of their homeschooling during the coronavirus outbreak, Education Minister Ziya Selçuk said on March 24.

Turkey's Education Ministry has issued a reprimand to a district director of national education following complaints by parents whose children were killed in a dormitory fire in the southern district of Aladağ in the Adana province in November 2016 which had killed 12, including 11 teenage girls.

A draft curriculum presented by Turkey's Education Ministry has received a total of 184,042 suggestions, with the most complaints and suggestions coming regarding classes on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, and the theory of evolution.

The World Bank has partnered with a number of Turkish agencies and the European Union to construct schools for Syrian refugees in Turkey, according to a statement from the lender.

Turkey's Education Ministry is planning to include renowned Turkish and Muslim scientists in its new draft curriculum. 

Works by Muslim scientists will be taught in physics classes in addition to the works of scientists such as Newton, Einstein and Maxwell, daily Habertürk reported on Jan. 24.

Turkey's Education Ministry has introduced a draft curriculum that will cover all 51 compulsory classes that are taught in elementary, middle and high schools to the public opinion, while establishing a platform in which people will be able to leave comments and make contributions. 

Turkey's Education Ministry has suspended 1,980 civil servants - including teachers - over suspicions they are linked to the movement of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, state-run Anadolu Agency reported Dec. 21.
