Syrian student ranks first in Turkish exam

A Syrian student who fled the war in his country and took refuge in southeastern Turkey six years ago has ranked first in his high school entrance exam (LGS), his school said on July 1.

"Syrian refugee student Dlyar Safo answered all questions correctly on the LGS 2021," the Kurtalan Selahaddin Eyyübi İmam Hatip Secondary School said on Twitter.

A draft curriculum presented by Turkey's Education Ministry has received a total of 184,042 suggestions, with the most complaints and suggestions coming regarding classes on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, and the theory of evolution. 

Education Ministry introduces new draft curriculum, asks people to contribute

Turkey's Education Ministry has introduced a draft curriculum that will cover all 51 compulsory classes that are taught in elementary, middle and high schools to the public opinion, while establishing a platform in which people will be able to leave comments and make contributions. 

1,980 Education Ministry personnel suspended for Gülen links

Turkey's Education Ministry has suspended 1,980 civil servants - including teachers - over suspicions they are linked to the movement of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, state-run Anadolu Agency reported Dec. 21.
 
The Education Ministry announced that the personnel were suspended.
