An ongoing debate in Turkey's parliament on a proposed new charter violates the current constitution and universal law, People's Democracy Party (HDP) lawmaker Mithat Sancar has said, demanding constitutional talks be halted until imprisoned HDP lawmakers are freed.
Toll in Beşiktaş attack rises to 45
The death toll of the Dec. 10 bomb attack outside Beşiktaş's Vodafone Arena Stadium has risen to 45, with riot police officer Ufuk Bozgeyik, who was heavily wounded in the attack, succumbing to his injuries at hospital.
Bozgeyik had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Bağcılar Research and Training Hospital in Istanbul but died on Dec. 20.

Russia ratifies bill on Turkish Stream gas pipeline
Russia announced late on Dec. 16 that it had approved a bill to ratify the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project.
The bill was passed by the Russian government and was sent to the Duma, the lower house of Russia's parliament, the Kremlin said in a statement.
Three party leaders vow joint fight against terror

Turkish Parliament speaker meets parties after punches fly at General Assembly
Parliament Speaker İsmail Kahraman brought together the group deputy chairpersons of all parties at Turkey's parliament on Dec. 13, after fists flew once again at the General Assembly on Dec. 12.
Along with the heightened tension at parliament meetings, jailed deputies were also on the agenda of the meeting, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Turkey's ruling and opposition parties in 'full support' against terrorism
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican's People Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have issued a joint statement at Turkey's parliament, saying they are "in full support" of the security forces in the fight against terrorism on Dec. 12, following twin bombings in Istanbul that killed 38 people.
