Turkish basketball team dismayed over playmaker Larkin's injury

Turkish basketball star Shane Larkin was removed from the national team squad for a shocking waist injury on June 23. 

In a statement, the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) said that Larkin, 28, was diagnosed with a relapsed herniated disc injury in the team's training camp when the Anadolu Efes playmaker point guard underwent medical examinations.

Turkey qualifies for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021

Turkey qualified for the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021 as one of the five best second-place teams, the Turkish Basketball Federation announced on Feb. 6.

Turkey moved to the finals with a second-place finish in Group E after losing twice to Serbia and claiming two victories against Lithuania.

EuroBasket 2021 will be co-hosted by France and Spain between June 17 and 27.​​​​​​​

Fenerbahçe star named EuroLeague Women MVP

Fenerbahçe women's basketball team star Alina Iagupova was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the EuroLeague Women season on May 1. 
"Alina Iagupova has been rewarded for a sensational first season at Fenerbahçe Öznur Kablo by being named the official EuroLeague Women MVP," read a statement on the EuroLeague Women website.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) have joined forces to raise public awareness and change the behavioural patterns of individuals to tackle the goals for sustainable development, especially climate action.

Fenerbahçe chairman fined, barred from games after striking rival

The head of a major Istanbul sports club was fined 40,000 Turkish Liras ($11,162) on May 8 by the Turkish Basketball Federation for slapping a rival during a match on May 7.        

The federation's disciplinary board also ruled Fenerbahçe Sports Club Chairman Aziz Yıldırım would be banned from games for six months.
