Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin has visited Damascus, for what the Syrian information ministry said would be talks involving its new rebel leadership.

Turkiye's intelligence chief visits Syria's capital Damascus

Turkish intelligence chief İbrahim Kalın made a high-profile visit to Damascus on Dec. 12, marking the first official visit by a senior foreign official to the Syrian capital since opposition forces toppled Bashar al-Assad.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced the arrest of 216 suspects in coordinated operations across 45 provinces targeting ISIL operatives.

Turkish intelligence sources have confirmed the death of Fetullah Gülen, leader of the FETÖ terror organization accused of orchestrating the failed 2016 coup attempt, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Friday.

"The ringleader of this dark organization has died," Fidan stated during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, in the capital Ankara.
