The Turkish navy is conducting a maritime exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean with the participation of 16 NATO countries.

Turkish defense officials have refuted claims that the sale of Eurofighter jets to Türkiye by a European consortium is subject to any conditions.

Technical studies on the procurement are still underway, sources told local media on Oct. 17.

Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz is expected to pay a visit to Türkiye next week for talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a German official announced on Oct. 11.

Erdoğan will receive Scholz in the Turkish metropolis Istanbul on Oct. 19, to be followed by a news conference, deputy government spokesperson Wolfgang Buchner told reporters in Berlin.

Germany has authorized large-scale arms exports to Türkiye for the first time in years, Der Spiegel reported on Oct. 6.

Berlin's Federal Security Council, which meets in secret, has approved a weapons sale to Türkiye valued at $368 million, the German weekly said.

Türkiye is sending ships to evacuate around 2,000 of its citizens from Lebanon on Wednesday, the foreign ministry said.

Two Turkish navy ships are set to depart from the port in Mersin, a southern Turkish province, heading to Beirut on Tuesday, ministry said in a statement on X.

"The total capacity of our ships is approximately 2,000 passengers," the ministry noted.

In recent hours, a video has gone viral on the internet, showing an attack carried out by a group of young Turks on US soldiers.

As seen in the video, the Turks are covering the head of an American with a bag and shouting “yankee go home.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to attend the inauguration of the Aksaz Shipyard Command in the country's Aegean province of Muğla, accompanied by a ceremonial commissioning of naval platforms, which will see the country integrate a new submarine into its fleet.

The Turkish Minister of Defense, Yasar Guler, discussed Greek-Turkish relations in an interview with the television network Haberturk published on Wednesday.

Yasar Guler stated that there has been an agreement between the Turkish president and the Greek prime minister to reduce tensions and adopt a positive agenda. 

Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) training ships "Kashima" and "Shimakaze" have docked at Istanbul's historic Sarayburnu Port from Aug. 9 to 12, marking a century of enduring friendship and strategic partnership.

Turkey on Thursday sought to frame this week's events in the southeastern Aegean as a validation of its expansionist claims in the region.
