Turkish parliament in Ankara

Turkish officials on Thursday lauded Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' speech in parliament, pledging their continued support until "complete freedom" is achieved.

It was a nightmare. When it started with road blocks on the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul and jets flying over the Turkish Parliament in Ankara at around 9 p.m. on July 15, 2016, many of us wished it was something else; many of us thought the time of coup d'états was over. 

The Greek army continued to move towards Central Anatolia from the Aegean to the Turkish Parliament in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. 

Prosecutors investigating a group of suspected Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants have alleged that a school has been founded in Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district to disseminate ISIL's jihadist ideology to school-age children, daily Vatan has reported Feb. 10. 

Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ is scheduled to visit the United States in order to discuss the issue of extradition and arrest of U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gülen, who is believed to have orchestrated the failed July 15 coup. 

Alexander S. Neu, one of the German parliamentarians who recently visited German troops based at Turkey's İncirlik air base after Ankara granted permission, has said he was disappointed to not be able to meet Turkish government officials during the trip. 

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has said two prominent journalists, daily Cumhuriyet Editor-in-Chief Can Dündar and Ankara Bureau Chief Erdem Gül, may be tried without arrest, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The Vienna-based International Press Institute (IPI) urged Turkey to end all criminal cases and investigations against journalists on terrorism-related charges in a written statement on Oct. 20.

A deputy from the Republican People?s Party (CHP) has called on Turkey?s top cleric to resign unless the latter justifies a shortage of 23 million Turkish Liras in the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) budget, daily Hürriyet has reported.
