Former ministers elected as parliamentary commission heads

Following a voting session in the Turkish parliament, the heads of specialized commissions have been determined, with former ministers taking leadership positions in commissions relevant to their respective fields.

During the general assembly meetings, the commissions convened to select the members of the Presidential Council.

Türkiye urges Sweden for concrete steps on NATO bid

With around a month left for NATO critical leaders' summit scheduled to take place in Vilnius, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has spoken over the phone with his Swedish and American counterparts separately to reiterate that Türkiye expects Sweden to take concrete steps in line with the trilateral agreement if it wants to join the alliance.

Youngest MP gets seat in parliament

Zehranur Aydemir, a 25-year-old representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), has become the youngest member of the Turkish parliament following the elections held on May 14.

Zehranur Aydemir, accompanied by her husband, Ömer Faruk Aydemir, registered at the assembly on May 25 to officially assume his parliamentary responsibilities.

Public figures enter parliament in new term

Several famous personalities, including a football player and a former Miss Türkiye, will serve in the 28th term of the Turkish parliament.

Former footballer and manager Ünal Karaman, who also worked as a caretaker manager for the Türkiye's national football team in 2004, entered the new parliament from the İYİ (Good) Party list in the Central Anatolian Province of Konya.

Türkiye to consider Sweden’s NATO bid after terror laws take effect

Türkiye will consider paving the way for the NATO membership of Sweden after the Nordic country adopts its anti-terror law in June, Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın told reporters.

Announcing the book "Presidential Policy Committees Activities and Goals," Kalın said the next tripartite meeting of Finland, Sweden and Türkiye will be held in June.
