Heavy rainfalls to hit country for 2 days

Starting from late Oct. 19, the country will witness heavy precipitation and a shivering weather on Oct. 20 and 21, but the weather conditions will go back to normal by the weekend, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has said.

"There will be downpours and thundery showers in most provinces across the country," it said in a statement.

Meteorologists warn of torrential rain in northern provinces

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a torrential rain warning for the northern provinces and has declared "yellow" and "orange" alerts for Giresun, Trabzon, Rize and Artvin.

According to the bureau's latest weather report, torrential rains are expected especially in Marmara and Black Sea regions.

Heavy rainfall hits Istanbul

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a warning for heavy rains expected in the metropolis of Istanbul and 21 provinces on July 9. Following the warning, heavy rainfall has started to take affect in Istanbul and other provinces at midnight. 

Country to experience blistering heat, warns expert

Heavy downpours and flurries will leave the country as of July 1, a prominent Turkish meteorologist has said while warning citizens to get ready to bear the brunt of blistering temperatures that will last at least a week.

"As of the weekend, the temperatures will reach life-threatening levels," Orhan Şen told the daily Milliyet on June 29.
