Türkiye sets higher targets for fast-growing gastronomy tourism
Türkiye is rolling up its sleeves to increase its income from gastronomy tourism, which is expected to reach $18 billion by the end of the year and $25 billion by 2025.
Gastronomy tourism is defined as a form of travel to discover the culinary culture, local dishes, beverages and production methods of a region or country.
Consumer morale improves for second consecutive month
The consumer confidence index increased by 2.4 percent month-on-month in September, after inching up 0.6 percent in August.
The index climbed from 76.4 last month to 78.2 this month, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) showed on Sept. 20.
Any figure above the 100 mark indicates optimism among consumers.
Life expectancy rises in tune with educational attainment: TÜİK
Individuals with higher levels of education have longer life expectancies overall in the country, while life expectancy is shorter for those with lower levels of education, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) showed.
Home sales increase for second month in a row
Home sales rose by 9.9 percent in August from a year ago, following a 16 percent annual increase recorded in the previous month.
In August, 134,155 homes changed hands, marking a 5.6 percent increase from July, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) showed on Sept. 17.

Türkiye's services exports total $56.5 billion in 2023
Türkiye's services exports totaled $56.5 billion last year, up 19.2 percent from $47.4 billion in 2022, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) showed on Sept. 17.
Meanwhile, service imports amounted to $41.4 billion, up 15.3 percent from $35.8 billion in 2022, TÜİK said.
Number of paid employees climb to 15.9 million in July
The number of paid employees in Türkiye's industry, trade and services, construction sectors increased by 3.4 percent in July from a year ago to reach an all-time high of 15.89 million, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on Sept. 16.
Some 4.4 percent of Turkish enterprises uses AI technology
Some 4.4 percent of Turkish enterprises say they are using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, down from 5.5 percent in 2023, according to a survey by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
More than 22 percent of enterprises with 250 or more employees use AI, up from 18.5 percent in the previous year.
Inflation expectations improve in September, shows survey
Inflation expectations for the end of 2024 declined from 43.3 percent in August to 43.1 percent in September, a Central Bank survey has shown.
The 12-month ahead inflation expectations also fell from 28.1 percent to 27.5 percent, according to the monthly survey of market participants.
Consumer prices are expected to increase by 2.22 percent in September.
Construction costs continue to rise but at slower pace
The annual increase in the headline construction cost index eased from 66.1 percent in June to 46.4 percent in July, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
On an annual basis, the index fell for a second month in a row in July.
The month-on-month increase in the cost index, however, accelerated from 0.4 percent to 1.9 percent.
Unemployment rate declines to 8.8 percent in July
Türkiye's unemployment rate declined from 9.2 percent in June to 8.8 percent in July, according to data released on Sept. 10.
The number of unemployed people fell by 112,000 from a month earlier to 3.2 million as of July, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data showed.
