The United States has announced economic sanctions against five individuals and seven entities based in Iran, China, and Hong Kong for their involvement in supplying components intended for the construction of drones for Iran, amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The head of the World Chess Federation (FIDE), Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, has temporarily transferred most of his powers to his deputy after being added to a U.S. sanctions list for alleged ties to the Syrian regime, the organization said on Dec. 6.

The U.S. Central Bank Fed and Turkey’s state-run Ziraat Bank have inked a deal that obliges the latter to submit an “acceptable written plan” against money laundering in two months.
