BELGRADE - Iran's supreme leader reiterated his call to mistrust the US, saying talks with Washington would be futile as it is in deep crisis now and cannot solve other nations' problems. It comes as Tehran marks the anniversary of the US Embassy siege in 1979.

Iran is banning the entry of U.S. consumer goods, the commerce and industry minister has said, as the country prepares for a lifting of economic sanctions.

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned commanders of the elite Revolutionary Guards on Sept.16 to be on alert for "political and cultural" infiltration by the United States.

Several thousand Iranians gathered outside the former US embassy in Tehran on Nov. 4 to mark its storming by students 35 years ago, burning the American flag.
      
In what has become an annual spectacle, demonstrators chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel, Death to Britain."       

The US has refused a visa to the new Iranian envoy to the UN in New York, due to links to the group that took over the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.
