Uranium prices rise as interest in nuclear power grows
The price of uranium has been on the rise, driven by constrained supply and accelerating demand, against a backdrop of renewed interest in nuclear power.
The benchmark contract for uranium oxide which, once enriched, is used as nuclear fuel, rose to $85.75 a pound (around 450 grams) on Dec. 15 for the first time since January 2007.
55 Nuclear Reactors Are under Construction in the World
In 2018, the nuclear power generated 2563 terawatt hours of electricity worldwide, which is up with 61 terawatt hours from a year earlier, according to the World Nuclear Association (WNA) Annual Nuclear Performance Report 2019.
The report will be formally presented and discussed during the WNA Symposium 2019 international event in London on September 5-6.

Rosatom aims to start building Turkish nuclear plant in early 2018
Russia's Rosatom expects to sell a 49 percent stake in its Turkish nuclear project to a consortium of Turkish companies by the end of the year, and aims to start construction of the Akkuyu plant by the end of March, a company executive said.
