MeRA25 was not founded in 2018 in order to play a backseat role in a government led by Alexis Tsipras, the head of the radical left party, Yanis Varoufakis, indicated on Tuesday, ruling out the possibility of joining a coalition with SYRIZA.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to the attack by a group of people on the leader of the MeRA25 party, Yanis Varoufakis, on Friday in a restaurant in the Exarchia district of central Athens.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old who was arrested for recording the attack on his phone will appear before a prosecutor on Wednesday.

The leader of the leftist MeRA25 party, Yanis Varoufakis, submitted a proposal to Parliament on Tuesday for the establishment of an inquiry committee to investigate the causes of Greece's financial meltdown and bankruptcy in 2010 and its subsequent international bailouts.
