Protesting school pupils in Macedonia, angered by plans to introduce externally controlled state-run graduation exams, have urged sympathisers to join their central protest planned for Thursday.

The protest rally, dubbed "Stop the bad reforms in education", comes after a boycott of classes that began in early April.

After being denied talks with the government, students at Macedonia's largest, state-run university, Sts. Cyril and Methodius, have decided to stage another protest march next week against alleged government interference in the academic system.

Macedonian students who last week staged a mass protest against plans for "external testing" have rejected the latest concessions from the Education Minister, Abdulaqim Ademi.
