Sabri Çelebi went on the streets with a machete during the Gezi Park Protests in Istanbul in 2013 and attacked protesters. He injured a woman by kicking her and a policeman from his hand. He was caught but released immediately afterwards. He went abroad. The ruling for his release was rejected.

An Istanbul court sentenced Abdullah Çakıroğlu on Sept. 7 to three years and 10 months in prison for kicking a young woman for wearing "inappropriate clothes" on a public bus.

The Istanbul 40th Court of First Instance said in its ruling the sentence was given on charges of "prohibiting the freedom of belief and opinion," "deliberate injury" and "insult."

When the footage became public, there was a public outcry. We then learned that although she filed a complaint, our judge considered it a simple crime and let the perpetrator go free.
