Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke on Oct. 21 over the phone with his counterparts from both Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Çavuşoğlu and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed regional issues, especially developments related to Afghanistan and Syria, as well as bilateral relations, said a Foreign Ministry statement.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on March 20 criticized the United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan for his remarks that Turkey's military operation in Syria is "a threat to the Arab world."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has blasted United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan for accusing Fahreddin Pasha, a commander in the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, of “ransacking” Medina in 1916.
