The Syrian National Army (SNA) of the opposition has fully liberated Manbij in the country's north from the occupation of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, eradicating one of the largest terror strongholds west of the Euphrates River, the Turkish security sources said on Dec. 9.

Türkiye's foreign minister met on Thursday Syrian opposition figures to discuss recent developments in the Syrian conflict, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with the top representatives of the Syrian opposition groups amid Ankara's messages to the Assad regime for a political solution to the decade-old problem in Syria.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Sept. 9 met with Syrian opposition figures in the capital Ankara.

Çavuşoğlu met with Salem Al-Meslet, head of the National Coalition of Syrian Opposition; Anas Abdeh, president of the Syrian Negotiation Commission; and head of the Syrian Interim Government Abdurrahman Mustafa.

Some 1,635 migrants, mainly women, children and elderly people, crossed into Turkey on Jan. 29 and 30 from Syria, after leaving their camp across the border due to rising security risks, as the Russian and Bashar al-Assad forces' bombardment of Turkmen villages continued.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has hosted delegations from the Bay?rbucak Turkmens and the Syrian Turkmen Assembly in separate meetings, while the United Nations' special envoy for Syria also paid a brief visit to the Turkish capital.

According to Turkish security sources, 50 000 Syrian refugees from Aleppo are expected to cross into the country due to the recent surge of violence in the region.

Russian airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) have targeted the southern and eastern neighbourhoods of Aleppo, while Syrian President Bashar al-Assad launched a land operation near the city.

Turkey is bracing for a fresh influx of Syrian refugees due to recent clashes in the country, with Turkish security sources expecting some 50,000 Syrian refugees to enter the country from its southern borders. 

Russian airstrikes hit Syrian Turkmen, Syrian Turkmen Council head Abdurrahman Mustafa has said.

Mustafa stated that Russia hit the Free Syrian Army rather than the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). 

They have hit Türkmenda??, Humus and Hama, areas where many Turkmen live, he said, after contacting the regions via telephone on Sept. 30.
