Prosecutors reveal junta behind Turkey's coup attempt

The joint indictment submitted to an Ankara court on March 3 on the July 2016 coup attempt has identified a 38-member junta named "Peace in the Nation Council" as being among 221 suspected coup plotters led by Fethullah Gülen, head of what the government and the indictment refer to as the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ). 

Turkish justice minister pens letter to US counterpart over Gülen extradition 

Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ has penned a letter to his U.S. counterpart Jeff Sessions regarding the extradition of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, accused of masterminding Turkey's failed July 2016 coup attempt.

In his letter, Bozdağ reiterated Ankara's expectation from Washington over the extradition of Gülen, Justice Ministry sources told daily Hürriyet.

First indictment for key Turkey coup plot figure Adil Öksüz prepared

The first indictment regarding a key figure in Turkey's failed July 2016 coup attempt, Adil Öksüz, was prepared in the Marmara province of Sakarya on Jan. 19, with the prosecutor seeking one aggravated life sentence and a jail sentence of between 190 years and 319 years.

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş has said the fugitive Adil Öksüz, one of the prime suspects behind Turkey's failed July 15 coup attempt, is only a "shadow" figure and the top orchestrators of the attempted putsch have not yet surfaced.  

Gülenists donated around $2 mln to Clinton campaign: Democratic source

Some figures from the Gülen Movement under the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, who is accused of the July 15 failed coup attempt, made nearly $2 million donation to defeated Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during her campaign, according to a Democratic source, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Nov. 12.
