Political leaders have come under fire for botched vaccine procurement as Bosnia and Herzegovina is hit hard by the latest wave of the pandemic, with another 2,000 infections registered on Wednesday.

A total of 6,598 people have died as a result of COVID-19 infections so far - 531 in the last seven days alone.

The signatories said this was done for the sake of current and future generations - in order to allow free movement ofcitizens in accordance with international law.

From 1996 to 2018, a total of 86,755 people renounced their Bosnian citizenship - more than the population of the town of Brcko in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina - according to data that BIRN has obtained from the country's annual migration profile.
