Mothers of slain Gezi protesters launch one-day hunger strike for hunger-striking educators in Ankara
The mothers of two slain Gezi protesters have launched a one-day hunger strike as a show of support to two educators who have been on hunger strike for over 65 days.
Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça went on a hunger strike on March 10 in Ankara, demanding to be returned to their jobs, which they lost with a state of emergency decree.
Gezi victim Elvan commemorated on second anniversary of his death
Berkin Elvan, a young boy who was shot with a tear gas canister during the Gezi Park incidents in 2013 and died some nine months later, was commemorated on March 11, the second anniversary of his death. Along with Elvan's parents, the relatives of other Gezi victims Ali ?smail Korkmaz, Ahmet Atakan and Abdullah Cömert also attended the commemoration in Istanbul.

Twenty-year-old Mehmet Ayval?ta?, 22-year-old Abdullah Cömert, 26-year-old Ethem Sar?sülük, 18-year-old Medeni Y?ld?r?m, 19-year-old Ali ?smail Korkmaz, 23-year-old Ahmet Atakan and 15-year-old Berkin Elvan?
It has been two years since they were murdered during the Gezi Park incidents.

Painting symbolizing Gezi to go on display
Painter Haydar Özay, the son of the 21-year gardener of Istanbul's Gezi Park, has spent his life there. He has recently finished a huge, 50-square meter painting of the park, which will be on view from May 30, the second anniversary of the Gezi protests.

Gezi victim Abdullah Cömert, who was killed during a police crackdown on last yearâs protests in the southern province of Hatay, was commemorated June 3, the anniversary of his death.
Hundreds of people, including family and friends, gathered in central Antakya at 10:45 p.m. to lay flowers at the spot where the 22-year-old was hit by a police tear gas canister.
