An ancient gift returned
Italian politician Alcide De Gasperi is seen holding his grandson Paolo, now 73, who returned a 5th-century BC Attic krater to Greece last week. The artifact had been gifted to the later Italian prime minister by his Greek counterpart Alexandros Papagos in 1953 and was part of a larger offering that included a looted ancient gold necklace, according to Alcide's daughter, Paola De Gasperi.

Ancient Greek vase gifted to an Italian leader is returned by his family to Greece
A valuable ancient vase gifted more than 70 years ago by the Greek government to an Italian prime minister has been voluntarily returned to Greece by the former statesman's grandson.
The Greek culture ministry on Friday praised the "most courteous gesture" by Paolo Catti De Gasperi, whose grandfather Alcide De Gasperi headed Italian governments from 1945 to 1953.

At a special ceremony held at our embassy in Rome, the grandson of former Italian Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi presented the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, with an ancient vase donated to his grandfather by the Greek government in 1953.
