The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) on Wednesday expressed concern over the "ongoing disruption" faced by residents of both sides of the island as a result of checkpoints remaining only partially open for specific groups.
Anastasiades and Akinci willing to meet in New York
Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci reportedly expressed their readiness Friday to resume talks in New York next month along with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Cyprus talks temporarily suspended: UN
Talks aimed at ending the decades-old conflict on Cyprus have been temporarily suspended at the request of the two sides, but were expected to resume later on July 5, the United Nations said.
The negotiations began at the Swiss Alpine resort of Crans-Montana a week ago and have been billed as the best chance to end the island's 40-year division.
