The diversion by Belarus of a Ryanair flight to a forced landing in Minsk was air piracy, Bulgaria's caretaker Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev said on May 25.

Pleven Province of Bulgaria intends to develop trade and economic cooperation with oblasts and cities of Belarus. Concrete areas of cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bulgaria Alexander Lukashevich and the authorities of Pleven Province and the city of Pleven, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Bulgaria.

Belarus and Bulgaria agreed to share information on knowledge-based developments. The matter was high on the agenda of a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bulgaria Alexander Lukashevich and President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Julian Revalski, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Bulgaria.

Kosovo Albanians are trying to impose an economic blockade of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo, Russia's OSCE envoy, Alexander Lukashevich, said on Thursday.

A further round of negotiations among the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France is set to take place in Minsk on Wednesday.

German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said in a statement that the decision was made after an extensive conference call between the country representatives on Sunday, BBC reported.

Russia's envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko called for a bilateral diplomatic discussion regarding the situation in Ukraine on Friday.

''NATO has increased the regime of air monitoring in the Baltic countries and performs flights in a close proximity to our strategic centers, including St. Petersburg,'' he said, as reported by TASS information agency.

Syrian state-run TV said Dec. 27 that the government is prepared to take part in peace talks hosted by Russia next month, but the unnamed foreign ministry official it cited suggested the scope of the negotiations would be limited to "preliminary" talks meant to pave the way for a conference held in Syria itself.
                   

Russia plans to host delegations from the Syrian opposition in late January, possibly followed by a visit by regime representatives that could bring the two sides together for talks, the foreign ministry said Dec. 25.

Members of the Syrian opposition are expected in Moscow "after January 20th," Russian foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told reporters.
