Alexandros Stamatiadis

Murder suspect extradited to Greece

A 30-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of a Greek businessman in Athens in April last year was extradited to Greece from Belgium.
Greek authorities had issued a European arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him of murder, robberies, thefts, being a member of a criminal gang and other crimes. He was arrested in Belgium  in February.

A symbolic success

The murder of businessman Alexandros Stamatiadis by armed robbers in April last year in his home in Kifissia in front of his wife while his children were sleeping also had a symbolic aspect to it, regarding the state's responsibilities to its citizens.

The public wants answers

The Greek Police (ELAS) has proven itself capable on numerous occasions of solving even the most complicated of crimes. This was more than evident in the swift arrest of the suspects accused of causing the death of a young student on central Athens's Philopappou Hill last month while trying to mug him, an incident that shocked public opinion.
