Members of the families that own Turkey’s two biggest groups of companies sold a combined total of about $575 million in shares in their respective groups, as the benchmark Turkish stock index closed at a record high on Wednesday.

There will be a limited participation from Ankara at the 47th World Economic Forum in Davos on Jan. 17-20, due to the ongoing debates over the constitutional amendment vote.   

Unless there is a last minute change, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek will participate, along with Central Bank Governor Murat Çetinkaya. 

Erol Bilecik, a leading tech businessman, is set to become the new president of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) in an unusual move, according to sources close to the matter. 

TÜSİAD will elect its new president in a general board meeting in the upcoming days. 

Koç Holding's Otokar has completed a seven-year prototype development process and will commence the mass production of 250 Altay main battle tanks as soon as it receives approval from Turkish authorities, according to a top company representative. 

Japanese company Mitsui & Co has acquired a 30 percent stake in Koç Holding's technological investment company Inventram, the companies' top executives said in a joint press meeting on Nov. 7. 

Istanbul's Fenerbahçe found some relief in a stunning 5-0 win against a strong Kardemir Karabükspor on Oct. 30 at home, following a historically bad start to the Turkish league.

Fener coach Dick Advocaat was happy with the win but poor attendance at the game bothered the experienced Dutchman.

Ford Otosan, a joint venture between Koç Holding and Ford Company, has begun the mass production of a new generation Ecotorq truck engine, the first truck engine to be both developed and manufactured in Turkey. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an hosted the top managers of Turkey's largest business group, Koç Holding, at the presidential palace in Ankara on Feb. 25, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
