PASOK: PM announced measures ‘already foreseen’ after Kampanos murder

Socialist opposition party PASOK said many of the measures announced by the prime minister on Wednesday to curb hooligan-related violence in Greece are "already foreseen" in the reform package agreed on after the killing of a soccer fan by hooligans in February 2022.

Seven defendants in Kampanos murder get life

The Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki handed life sentences to seven of the 12 convicted for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos in a sports club-related attack in February 2021. The other five were each given 20-year sentences, while the court had previously accepted the prosecution's proposal not to recognize extenuating circumstances.

All defendants found guilty in Kampanos murder case

A mixed jury court in Thessaloniki on Thursday unanimously found all 12 defendants in a trial over the killing of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos in the northern port city in February last year guilty of murder.

The jury found seven of the 12 youths guilty of manslaughter with possible intent - lowered from an initial charge of premeditated murder - and five guilty of complicity.

Prosecutor calls for guilty verdicts in football hooligan murder case

The prosecutor in the trial over the killing of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos by a group of hooligans in Thessaloniki in February 2022 has called for all 12 defendants to be found guilty of murder.

"They all set out to kill and they succeeded," the prosecutor, Kyriaki Kliamba, said. "All the defendants intended to kill" and "did not act randomly," she added.

Trial into 2022 killing of Thessaloniki youth gets under way

The 12 people accused of the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos on February 1, 2022 in Harilaou, Thessaloniki and the injury of his two friends told a court on Monday that they did not beat him. 

The trial for the soccer hooligan-related incident is taking place at the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki.
