Electricity needs of all households in Türkiye are met with the electricity generated only from wind and solar power plants, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.

The total amount of major investment drive for electricity generation from renewable energy will be around $80 billion in the next 11 to 12 years, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.

Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has announced that the Abdülhamid Han ship has begun its first drilling operation at the Amasra-4 well in the Black Sea as part of efforts to boost natural gas production.

The Abdülhamid Han ship's drilling activities will last about 30 days, Bayraktar said in an interview with private broadcaster CNN Türk.

Türkiye's daily and monthly natural gas and crude oil production broke new records in October, according to the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

Domestic crude oil production reached an all-time monthly high of 3.36 million barrels, while the country's natural gas output hit 234.4 million cubic meters, the ministry said in a statement on Nov. 6.

Türkiye aims to have 7,200 megawatts of nuclear power by 2035, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said, adding that without nuclear energy the country is unlikely to meet its 2052 net-zero target.

"We need to build two more reactors until 2035 in order to achieve this target," he told daily Milliyet.

Turkey plans to remove government subsidies for high volume residential electricity users from February next year, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Wednesday.

"Oruç Reis has reached its mission location after its journey across continents," Bayraktar shared on X.
