SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis has requested that a public prosecutor intervene after the law office of Alexis Kougias released a homophobic statement asking him to clarify whether he is the man or the woman in his same-sex marriage. 

The president and the prosecutor of the Supreme Court ordered an urgent preliminary disciplinary investigation on Monday into a decision by judicial officials to release a prominent Athens lawyer who is accused of brutally assaulting his wife.

Criminal lawyer Apostolos Lytras, 52, appeared before a prosecutor on Monday to answer charges of severe intentional bodily harm for the brutal assault on his 37-year-old wife, who is also a lawyer.

Following his deposition, the judge and prosecutor imposed restrictive measures on him, including staying away from the victim, and released him pending trial.

A 37-year-old mother who has been in custody since last October over charges relating to the pimping of her 12-year-old daughter has requested that a police psychologist examining the child be called to testify before an investigating magistrate.
